Can Chinese Medicine Help You Quit Smoking?

Addiction is now the biggest preventable killer in Britain, causing 150,000 deaths a year (120,000 tobacco related, 33,000 alcohol related and 1,700 drugs related).

How can Chinese medicine help with addiction?

Chinese medicine has beneficial effects on addiction to various substances. The most commonly treated addictions at AcuMedic clinics are smoking and alcoholism.

Smoking has a detrimental impact on all major systems of the human body, in particular, the circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems. Flower Bulbs: Nature?s Greatest Gift

Flowers are one of nature's greatest gifts. Their scent, their colors, their shapes? everything about flowers is beautiful. A colorful, cheerful flower can brighten even the darkest day. Even more enjoyable than looking at flowers, though, is growing them. Flowers can be bought from pots and replanted.

They can also be grown from clippings. However, one of the most popular ways of growing flowers is from bulbs and seeds.Growing flowers outdoors from bulbs is simple; in fact, it is so easy that it's almost foolproof. One of the most important aspects is timing. Bulbs need to be planted about six weeks before the first frost. Bulbs must be planted in an area with good drainage and a lot of sun.

Make sure the soil is loose, and then plant the bulbs about six inches in the ground. (Package directions may vary depending on type and location; when directions differ, following your package.) Try to place the bulb in the hole with the pointed end facing up. Cover the hole and water....

The benefits of a Low Sodium Lifestyle

A low sodium, low salt diet shouldn't be a burden at all! Personally, I have kept to an "under 1000mg" a day diet with out giving up much but fast food (and who misses that anyway?)

When I was first told that my blood pressure was high ( 160/95) and labeled as having hypertension, I decided at that moment to do some serious research into what had created this "new-to-me" health concern.
I wanted to find a permanent solution to lower the numbers to an acceptable, healthy range without taking medication.

As I reflected on where I was in life at the moment, mid-life, not overweight, but not exercising regularly either, I began making small changes in my day-to-day lifestyle. I was not going to give in to hypertension.

First, I bought a nutritional handbook that lists most foods and their nutritional content. I decided to try and stay under 500mg of sodium daily. This took some work, but it paid off very well.

I had lowered my...

As Spring Arrives, Wildflower Seed Sales Zoom at the Web's Leading Site

Recent studies show that gardening is still the fastest-growing hobby in the US, and wildflower seed gardening is one of the fastest-growing segments of the hobby.AmericanMeadows.com, a leading website for wildflower gardeners, has seen important growth ever since 2005 began. "Our traffic is up over 50% since the year began," says Ray Allen, who with his wife, Chy, founded AmericanMeadows over 20 years ago. The Allens founded the Vermont Wildflower Farm back in 1981 to share their hobby of wildflowers with others. (This summer the Wildflower Farm will be featured on HGTV.)
Now, after that experience, the creation a national seed catalog, and finally, creating a handsome, seed-filled website under their "national" name, AmericanMeadows.com, the couple continues to enjoy introducing more and more gardeners to the easy care world of wildflower meadow gardening. And wildflower seeds is not all they offer now.

"We added flower bulbs last fall, and now have a really unique...

Local School Rises from the Dust To Plant Positive Seeds

East Palo Alto, CA (ContentDesk) June 9, 2004 -- A local charter school is defying the odds.
The K-8 school was previously closed by the school's Board of Directors and then re-opened by the parent body. Many predicted that The School of Wisdom and Knowledge would not make it through the school year.
Despite these opinions, the school has undergone a year of stabilization and has received unanimous approval for a five year continuance of it's charter by the Ravenswood City Unified School District.
The school's stabilization plan called for a name change and additional financial support.

To this end, The Phoenix Academy was born and announces it's first annual benefit banquet "Planting Positive Seeds"."Planting Positive Seeds", promises to be a fundraising party to remember.
